Data-Tel Communications, Inc. is locally owned & operated by the Ward Family. The business opened in February 1982 and has been an authorized NEC dealer for 35+ years. It has attained Diamond status for maintaining high business standards and sales achievement. Our success over the years can be attributed to having a quality product and providing excellent service to our customers.

Our technicians are certified on the installation of NEC telephone/voicemail systems, with the option of Digital, VoIP, Hosted or Hybrid solutions. We also employ technicians for installing and terminating voice, data and fiber cabling.

We have cultivated a good rapport with local service providers in the area and work with them to troubleshoot line problems, as well as helping our customers place orders with them for changes to their telephone service.

Data-Tel provides complete training on all NEC telephone/voicemail systems. We can customize training sessions to meet the needs of our customers.

Mark & Kathy Ward

Founders/Owners

Mark began in the telecommunications industry shortly after the AT&T divestiture in 1979. He began his career at Data-Tel in 1982 as a Sales Manager and eventually became the sole owner of the company. Mark served as President of Data-Tel until 2018. Kathy joined Data-Tel in 1987 as the Office Manager. Over the years, she handled the bulk of the back office operations, such as accounting, payroll, purchasing and scheduling. Kathy also served as Secretary/Treasurer of Data-Tel until 2018.

Mark moved to Topeka in 1968 to attend Washburn University and has been a resident of the community ever since. Kathy is a lifetime resident of the Topeka Community. Mark & Kathy have retired and reside in Tecumseh.
